    The manufacturing process of flange mainly is divided into forging, casting, cutting and rolling.     The casting and forging flanges have advantages that the blanks of them have accurate shape, size and low costs and only need simple process. But forging flanges have manufacturing defects such as blowholes, cracks, etc and have not very smooth internal organization streamline. The obvious advantages of forging flanges are that they can be forged in various shapes and they have low costs.     Forging flanges generally have lower carbon content than the casting flanges and are not easy to rust. They have smooth streamline, uniform internal organization, and better mechanical performance than that of casting flanges. What is flange connection?

  A flanged joint is a connection between a pipe and another piping equipment (example, another length of pipe, a valve, or a pressure vessel). Hundreds, even thousands, of flanged joints are necessary for a piping system to function.   The three main components of a flanged joint are:   two mating flanges (the “main” and the “companion” flange).   a number of stud bolts for flanges (flanges of different diameter, class, and face finish require different numbers and sizes of stud bolts and nuts for proper sealing);   two gaskets, which can be either metallic (spiral wound, ring joint, jacketed and Kammprofile), or non-metallic (non-asbestos gaskets). Material of Reducing Flange

  Reducing flanges are designed for when there is a change in the pipe size. The predominate flange (dimensions) matching the larger pipe size (NPT) but having a smaller bore matching the smaller pipe size (NPT). These flanges normally come in blind, slip-on, threaded and weld neck flanges. They are available in all pressure classes and provide a good alternative to connecting two different sizes of pipe. This type of flange should not be used if an abrupt transition would create unwanted turbulence, such as at a pump.   A reducing flange consists of a flange with one specified diameter having a bore of a different and smaller, diameter. Except for the bore and hub dimensions, the flange will have dimensions of the larger pipe size. What is Lap Joint Flange

  The lap joint flange is practically identical to a slip-on flange except it has a radius at the intersection of the bore and flange face.
